Those old Selmers sound interesting--at one time in the late 1950's Selmer
(Paris) produced soprano clarinets in their Omega Series--the pair I am
familiar with had the Centered-Tone bore configuaration. These instruments
also had a throat Bb mechanism--similiar tho that found on modern bass
clarinets. A really interesting feature however, was that each clarinet in
the set was supplied with a series of speaker tubes--they came mounted in the c
ase in a little wooden holder complete with a wrench. The tube in place could
be removed and replaced with one of differing length and diameter. I also
recall having a Buffet R13 A with some really funny intonation especially
in the throat--Bb-especially. John Coppen of Buffet in London replaced

the speaker tube with one of his own dimensions. The improvement was
incredible. Of course I then went and traded this 60,000 set of Buffets
for a pair of BH 1010 with the Acton imrovements. The sad part of all
that is those BH 1010's would be worth a considerable chunk had I been
smart enough to retain them when I returned home to the states.
