I am not sure if this will help with the vibrato question--but, in making
crescendo on the clarinet think not of blowing Harder but Faster. Also
the adjustments required to maintain the pitch at a reasonable level
should be thought of (for me) as being done in the oral cavity--various
vowel sounds shapes. However, as I read this I realize I could be stepping
on some "sacred cows". I am just responding to what I read and not trying
to be an expert. But the velocity of the airstream is a concept that I
find very helpful along with the oral cavity in tonal production.
