Anne is quite right. There are students out there. My name is Kory Vrieze
and I am a graduate student at the University of South Dakota. I am in
a history degree now (History of Musical Instruments) but I still try to
keep myself in playing condition. I hope to go on for my doctorate in clarinet.
The reason I haven't spoken up yet is I'm still trying to figure out this
blasted computer. I hope this message gets through.

I thank everyone for the flood of information I am getting. I have learned
a lot. So now I will pose my questions. First, can we still skip the
vibrato simply because we don't like it or think the clarinet doesn't need
it? I don't want to fall behind the times. My second question has to do
with the discussion on oils. I have always blindly used the stuff that comes
in the bottle marked bore oil. Is this bad and if it isn't how often should
you try to apply it? Also, how do you apply it?

By the way, I just got done playing the Meyerbeer with clarinet, soprano,
and piano. It was fun.
