Klarinet Archive - Posting 000248.txt from 1994/02

Subj: A new wrinkle in Klarinet communications
Date: Fri, 18 Feb 1994 10:28:18 -0500

Cary notes that some of the messages being received have
a different "from" address than we have become accostomed to.
Instead of the klarinet address (somewhere on vtbit or bitnet),
the sender's address appears. This is a recent change from
traditional practice.

He then suggests that this might be causing people to write
directly to the sender instead of through klarinet itself.

I also have noticed this new addressing wrinkle and never really
thought about the implications until Cary mentioned it. He
may well be correct.

I received a very lucid communication about vibrato and was so
pleased to have finally understood something that I commented
(to the entire list) about how lucid it was. Cary said that
he never saw that posting and that this may be a consequence
of the new addressing wrinkle.

Except in very, very few specific cases, I always send my messages
to the entire klarinet mailing list. And Cary is correct to
mention that we should all do so (where we intend to), this
no matter what address is in the "from" list.

I know that the keepers of the listserver on which klarinet
rides read these messages (because they are clarinet players,
bless their hides) so I ask them to take specific notice
of this potential problem.
