A friend of mine cuts up a bicycle inner-tube, and affixes it to the
mouthpiece with nail polish. I've never tried this myself, but it seems to
work for him.

By the way, I, too, am a student. I'm doing my masters in clarinet at the
University of British Columbia (Canada). I must say that I have already
learned a lot from the discussions on this list. Isn't technology wonderful?
