Just in case anyone else is wondering about where I fit into the scheme
of professional involvement with the clarinet -- I've been a professional
woodwind technician since the late 1960's, specializing for the largest
portion of this time in the conservation and reproduction of museum objects.
I've done quite a bit of professional playing over the years, as well,
but have never relied solely on such income to keep alive. My formal
credentials include a BA, MA and PhD in musicology, an associate
professorship in organology (the study of musical instruments) at Upsala
University and journeyman's papers (German) as a woodwind instrument maker.

My workaday career has been more in the museum world than in the musical
world and my current day job involves managing the Internet domains
assigned to several Swedish museums and training museum people in the use of
network facilities.
