Clarinets do and can (I have been told) wear-out or blowout. However, there
is a very special old Buffet (from I believe 50 years ago or more) which
is given out on loan for a year at USC--as I recall Mitchell Lurie owned the
instrument and it was "loaned" to the superstar UCS student at one time.
So it must still be going.
