Well on the subject of mouthpiece patches....
When I was first exposed to them, I hated it!! I thought that
it was the most terrible thing to put on the clarinet. I kept it on,
for a while (since my teacher said to) and now I can't stand tp play on
anything that dosen't have a patch! I don't think that I have a padded
patch though. It dosen't seem to be too thick or anything.
I like it. It prevents me from marking up the top of the mouthpiece,
and it cuts down on vibrations coming through the mouthpiece and into your
teeth. (I really notice the vibrating when I am playing on a clarinet
that does not have a patch on the mouthpiece)

So basicially I would say- Keep it on for a while and see
how you feel about it later. It may take more than three weeks.

I'm sorry about the rambling on here- I took the Revised Music
GRE's today and I am a bit brain fried!
