I just picked up something from our local photographic supply house that
promises to provide a very satisfactory solution. It's called a
"CamPorta" camera/camcorder support system. It has a couple of black
braces that go over each shoulder and then a front bar that goes down to
a strap that's secured around the waist. Then, a support for a camera
can slide up or down the shaft. A 6" dowel-like extension attached to
the tripod socket, which can be adjusted at different angles, and eureka
a very solid support, lightweight, that provides no strain on neck or
shoulders. All I have to figure out now is some sort of rubber grommet
or whatever to attach to the clarinet, that can fit onto the tripod fitting
and I think I'm in busines! Will have to experiment over the weekend and
report back...
