Friends,

I've heard it told more than once that when Brahms was dying he
expressed his one regret--that he did not have time to write
his clarinet concerto (!). I'm unable to find a source for this
comment (and here I work in a large academic library!). Fault is
directed not to my library, but to me--alas, I just don't have the
time to dig this one out of the tomes.

I wonder...can anyone help with a source for this tantalizing
tale attributed to the master himself? Many thanks!
