How to keep Karen from drying out?

How about keeping a cup of water with a couple of reeds
soaking in it? I've got a little cup shelf that clamps onto my stand.
It won't keep your current reed wet, but it'll give you something to
fall back on quickly. My teacher in high school used to have a
shelf that exactly fit a shot/communion glass, but I've never been able
to find one like it. I use a beer can-sized shelf that I bought from the
Woodwind & Brasswind for under $10. If you leave a glass of water on
the floor, it will get knocked over before you need it.

Anybody have any experience with those big acrylic square tubes? Some
local guy makes them (MD). They supposedly keep the humidity constant,
hold any size reed, and have sandpaper on the outside (which would
wear out soon and be ugly & useless. I cut little acrylic rectangles
& contact cement #600 paper to them and keep one in each of my cases).
