I have a general question for readers-users of the Klarinet list. How
many of you either have or have the use of a basset horn? I am curious
about what brands are out there and what you have done about some of the
incredible problems. If you all feel this is not appropriate discussion for
this list--any of you with bassets contact me directly on e-mail and we will
do it that way.

I also have an opportunity to have a really first class A clarinet of mine
converted by a Candian craftsman into a basset clarinet. The problem--once
done it remains a basset clarinet. I am timid when it comes to having this

instrument converted--fear of the unknown. But I do not want to have a bad
clarinet converted. Any of you out there have experience with the basset
clarinet? If I could get the university to purchase one the problem would
be solved--but this won't happen anytime soon.
