Karen--I do not know if this will help you to "improve" your reeds in dry
conditions but I keep my reeds pretty well sealed up during this cold
(lower RH) weather. I use the Vandoren reed case and when travelling to
and from a place will put the reed cases in a sandwich bag. My experience
has been that when it dets dry enough to cause a clarinet to shrink to the
point that its rings loosen the cane of reeds (a large grass-but with the
shortcomings of wood) really take a beating. Hope it works for you.
