I will assemble a list of what I know of--Yost only lived until his mid
30's but was quite busy. The trio I am doing is the first of a set of
three for 2 clarinets and bassoon. It is listed as being in F major. However,
that assumes the use of the C clarinet. So--we use the Eb version with the
bassoon a tone lower. That is also the case with the Lefevre sonatas. He
tells the clarinet player if he uses a Bb then have the bass line a tone
lower. Obviously many C clarinets were in use around the 1790's? But how
does one list a trio in F major performed in Eb on a program?
