Ah yes the wedge--for my purposes in JXLefevre this particular marking on
any note--but especially the half note must indicate in an adagio an
accent. Any ideas out there about articulation in the same phrases with some
dots and some wedges? Rember we are talking about clarinet music from ca 1790.
Keeping in mind the placement of the mouthpiece with the reed uppermost--as was
JXL's mode of performance--just how much does aspirations have to do with a
performance of this music?
This is not very scholarly I know--but it is practical.
