Ron Monsen asked "How many of you out there perform
the Scottische Bilder of Wolf? Robert Scott connections? These are
not transcription but are rarely if ever performed. I wonder why?"
I'm not familiar with that music. Are these songs by Hugo Wolf,
of which the vocal line could be played on the clarinet?
Please tell more.
There's a vast number of Scot/Irish/Welsh/English folksong
settings by Beethoven for voice, violin, cello, and piano.
Sometime I'd like to try playing some with the clarinet on the
vocal line. There's also a set of about a dozen Irish songs
by Weber in similar chamber settings, but I've never seen them
in print. Does anyone know of a source for these?
