Dan, That is a great description of the wedge type articulation. I also think
of it as a bitng type of accent on a note that begins and ends abruptly. I
have noticed that in 20th century rep., especially after the 60's, there is a
variety of different accent directions and the wedge is now indispensible and
cannot be "accentuated" enough!
