A few months ago, I got thrown off of the klarinet list
(by accident, I hope!) and was too swamped with work to
get around to signing on again.

Now I'm back. Since I've been away a while, and my past
postings were rather scarce, I'll reintroduce myself.

I'm 40, work as a technical writer at Sun Microsystems
Computer Corporation, and keep my hand in with various
musical activities and obsessions. Back in 1975 I
completed by BA in music at the University of California
at Santa Cruz. As a student, and for about two years
afterwards, I took clarinet lessons with Rosario Mazzeo.

In the years since then I've had a rather ecclectic musical
life. The clarinet parts of it included playing on streets
in Italy and Austria, being a founding member of a klezmer
group (Ellis Island of Berkeley, Calif.), accompanying hymns
at a Lutheran church where I also direct the small choir,
and leading a chamber group (the Divertimento Dance Orchestra)
that plays classical/romantic era dance music for costumed social
dances in the San Francisco area.

Just to get the equipment questions out of the way, I play
a Bb/A pair of Selmer 10 Mazzeo model clarinets (my Mazzeo
lever is in the on position, Dan) with a Boherbeck mouthpiece,
Luyben plastic ligature (clear, in case that matters to anyone),
and #3 VanDoren reeds.

I've looked at a compilation of the January 1994 messages thus
far and see a lot of interesting topics. I'll respond to some
by posting separate messages soon.
