Kathy, the woodwind catalog, which can be had by calling 800-348-5003,
has lots of reeds at good prices. For example, Van Doren's are available
in various strengths at 10.98 per box of 10 (regular cut) and 14.95
for German cut. Glotin are available at 12.95 per box of 10.

Charpen reeds at 25 per box are available at 12.95 per box.

Re your inquiry improvising cadenzas, do you mean improvisation in
general? I don't know of any concerti from the classic era that has
a cadenza in it so it is not clear what you referred to.

Personally, I improvise all the time in music from 1750 to 1820. That
improvisation takes the form of lead-ins, general melodic alteration
on all material appropriate, etc. If we were all pianists, we could
talk about the problems of improvising cadenzas, but it is a moot point
for clarinet players. Please clarify for me.
