I guess I have been guilty of "lurking"--but it's really been a matter
of finding time to do some fun things, among which I include reading
Klarinet messages.

I have two questions:

1. I have been sort of out of touch with the clarinet world since
graduating from college--I did major in performance on clarinet, but
got into music history and then music librarianship. I also moved from
the East coast to West Texas. Combine that with marriage and a baby and
you get the picture. Anyway, I have started playing again pretty regularly
and the music stores out here are pretty pitiful. The only reeds I can
get are Mitchell Lurie and I pay $17.20 per dozen. Would anyone recommend
anything else? If not, do you know of any source for getting them cheaper?

2. I noticed the discussion on performance practice--does anyone improvise
cadenzas in performance? (I probably wouldn't have the guts, but I'm
not a good improviser anyway)

Thanks.
