Andrea,
Taco Song--I love it!!! Last year in Wind Ensemble, I played contrabass,
but I seem to have forgotten the third movement--wait, I think it is unison
with double bass. I'll never forget that part in the first movement with
bass, contra, and contrabassoon--it was very......interesting.
The other piece you mentioned I haven't played, but I regret the eternal
first space F! What a truly HORRIBLE note on bass to hold for any amount
of time!
I just realized that I failed to mention in the beginning of this note
that I played "The Taco Song" in Wind Ensemble last year. We played other
pieces, naturally, but La Fiesta was a shining contra piece. I am glad,
however, that I don't have to play contra on a regular basis now; it's
not my favorite (sorry).
Anyway, the Ithaca College Wind Ensemble is also going on tour this
March. It should be great---Buffalo, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh.
