I'll second that. But I find that I've learned to play in "difficult"
keys from playing musicals--learning on the job, so to speak.

Maybe not, but I've done lots of shows where the (amateur) reed
players have carted an amazing number of instruments into the pit,
getting very close to the composer/arranger's intentions. _West
Side Story_ comes to mind; the last time I played it, I was playing
6 instruments. One of the other players had 7.

While I'm here (I read the list in digest form, so I don't do
back-and-forth replies):

- I think we should be grateful that not all 93+ list subscribers
are actively commenting on everything. People here seem to be
very good about speaking up only when they have something to say.

- I was intrigued by Dan Leeson's comment about manicures. Dan,
want to amplify? (silly question...) I content myself with
keeping the nails short on my pinkies and left thumb. Am I
missing a trick here?

- Can anyone discuss barrels: Accubore vs. not and Moenning vs. not?
