No, I haven't played "Brigadoon," but I agree its a great show (Loewe, right?)

Musicals can be incredibly exciting -- I rarely play anything but musicals
now. Its a great place for amateur musicians that don't want to do community
orchestra or band. If you've got a chance to play in a pit orchestra, go
for it. You'll have a great time and might catch the bug to do more shows.

Don't worry about how hard the book is. Most show music is OK for someone
about your age who is dedicated enough to buy a good horn. If its a
school production you'll get more opportunity to practice than you would for
a community theater or union gig. Some show music is virtually impossible
to play (given the short rehearsal time) because it was arranged by someone
who didn't have a clue as to how a clarinet is played. (part of the fun of
doing a show). The trick to show music is keeping your wits about you and
always knowing where you are, because its easy to get lost.

Experience means a lot in the pit, and the only way to get experienced is
to jump in. Don't feel intimated -- you deserve your chance to gain
experience.

If you ever wondered why Rubank went over all those difft patterns in all
those different keys, you'll find out on a musical.

-->First, a few words of introduction. My name is John Cloudman, and I'm a
-->Junior in High School. I play first clarinet in my high school bands and
-->orchestra, and I play on a Bb Buffet E11.
-->
-->Now my question: Has anyone played the 1st clarinet part for the musical
-->Brigadoon? I'm about to start that, and I wanted to get an idea of how
-->challenging it's going to be. I heard it, and it sounds really beautiful.
--> Thanks in advance.
