Welcome, welcome!! I also have a high level of interest in
performance practice, particularly with respect to music of
the classic period. And I tried on several occasions to move
the topic off reeds, clarinet brands, mouthpieces, etc. to
the necessities of everyday performance issues.

I could not accomplish it. The subject invariably gravitated
back to plastic clarinets, bores, ligatures, etc., which, to me
at least, are the least interesting part of clarinet playing.

I brought up basset horns (I own two), bass clarinets in A (I
own one), the use of C clarinet when composer-requested,
improvisation and ornamentation in classic period music, etc.

Cary in Sweden is an expert on period instruments and it is
a pleasure to hear him speak on the subject, but whenever he
does, we generally wind back up on the subject of why the
LeBlanc Opus is the hottest thing since sliced Wonder Bread.

So join us in any topic you wish. And be prepared to give up
all reed secrets.

Welcome aboard!
