Bob -- In what way did the Stubbins mechanism you describe duplicate
or precede the Mazzeo mechanism that also focused on the deficiencies of
the throat tone B-flat? In fact, I have a Mazzeo system basset horn
(with clutch to turn it off). It was Mazzeo's instrument until I
bought it from him and it is a wonderful B-flat except that I cannot
play the instrument when it is in Mazzeo mode.
