Certain manufacturers of wooden clarinets do in fact bore out the place for
the tone holes and then insert and seal in the actual item. One of the
current Yamahas does this but I do not remember the model number. I also
believe that several German manufacturers of clarinets (Deutsch system) do
this as well.

The reason Loree probably charges more for an upper joint of Delrin--which
works (machines) like wood, is that if it costs more it is better.
