Daniel (I like the name, of course), I have exactly the opposite opinion.
So where are we now?

Are you aware that the test that I suggest (a dozen clarinet players behind
a screen playing on a series of clarinets of various media [glass, wood,
plastic, etc.] and graded by a panel of competent observers) has already
been done? Some guy did it for a doctoral thesis about 15 years ago and
I read his book. But like an idiot, I forget the author's name and
title.

Anyway, the results were that everybody got everything wrong. No one could
pick out wood from banana peels.

And your belief that wood sounds better (and my belief that it does not) is
worth nothing in the face of such evidence. Ears hear what you want them
to hear. Buffet marketing people condition you to believe what you believe.

But when they run out of African blackwood, they will tell you that cheese box
wood is just as good (and charge you double for it).
