I tend to agree with Tom Acher here. I believe there is a more distinctive
and darker timbre with a wooden clarinet; and further, I believe this is a
sound (the darkness) not achievable with a platic or, particularly, a metal
clarinet.Whether this is actual truth or not, I do feel I could distinguish
between the timbres of these instruments-- granted, this is a very fine
difference in sound, but nonetheless, I feel it is still there.
