I do not know if I can be of much help regarding Boulez--but when I was a
student of Alan Hacker at the RAM he in fact did the work--rather in a
special way. As I recall he did work with Boulez--I am sorry if this is
confusing to you but it was quite a few years ago. I will have to check
my programs and notes--on this.

I am also (I confess) stuck in the 18th and 19th century as far as the
clarinet goes. I also think of Contrasts as contemporary music--but that
is my problem and not yours. I will do what I can for you on this end.

Do you know of the work of Kjell-Inge Stevensson of Sweden? He has had a
great many works written for him by his fellow countrymen. Many of these
works call for an extraordinary command of the extended---I do have some of
these works on tape and have manuscript copies.

Please do not get me wrong. I have no argument with any of the music--but
life is only so long and I have found that the basset horn and the classical
and romantic period in clarinet is my special area of interest. I know I am
letting myself in for a great deal of criticism and being accused of living

in a woodwind museum. But that is that. I will check my old student files
for programs sources and the score--etc. Hope that may be of help.
