Elisabeth, you are correct in that we rarely discuss contemporary
clarinet music. To me the Bartok Contrasts are contemporary but that
is only a reflection of my own myopia and narrowness of vision.

I thought a long time about why I am drawn to the classical era above
all others and I came to the conclusions that there may be some sort of
a genetic disposition to enjoy music of one era over another. No proof,
but it seemed logical.

As for your buying a b.c., can you tell me a little more. Do you intent
to use it for orchestral work? Do you want to play the solo repertoire?

And yes. Your accent is very distinctive and very funny.

Please give my best regards to Elsa. She will remember me and I certainly
remember her playing. It would be hard to forget that level of
competence.
