Andrea, where is St. Olaf? What state?

Second, I got mixed up in your terrific story because you dropped
a comment about Sorcerer's Apprentice and I could not figure out
what that piece was doing on a Chirstmas show.

Third, regarding the Irish Tune of Percy Grainger, I know for a fact
that he would not have minded your low D. I knew Percy well and
once asked him if I could play down an octave at certain points because
the line appeared to me to have to change directions because of the
range of the b.c. when he arranged the work. He agreed with me and
told me to go ahead.

Today when I play the work with the New Sousa band under Keith Brion,
I always play parts down an octave. We will be touring in Japan next
year and we're doing it there so that Japanese will hear some low Ds.
