This discussion seems to be going in the direction of clarinet-high-end.
Similar to discussions of high-end-audio where people claim that speaker
wire made of solid gold with the electrons all lined up in the same
direction sounds better than ordinary copper wire...

A key question, I would think, is the degree that the clarinet itself
vibrates, as opposed to the column of air. Now, I know that with a
violin, or cello, or guitar, the vibration of the instrument itself
is a substantive contributer to the production of sound. I don't
know to what extent this is true of the clarinet. But, would be
interested to know!
