Mr. Leeson,
Where did you find an A bass clarinet? How much did it cost? I am
curious because, as a bass clarinetist, I have an excerpt book with many
Mahler and other excerpts for bass clarinet in A! I had never even heard
of such an instument!
Also, I've played a Selmer Eb Contalto clarinet here at Ithaca College
(of course) in the Wind Ensemble and was surprised to find that it was
(and still is) made of rosewood. Everyone here praises the instument.
Why? "Because it's rosewood!" That's all they say--no comments on sound.
Any ideas?
