Some time ago in theCLARINET there was an interview with the young French
clarinetist Pascal Moragues--a fine player, indeed. When asked what one of
the major influences on his playing was--this French (Paris Cons) trained
artist replied "Karl Leister recordings". A French man--strongly influenced
by listening to Karl Leister. Now we could into a discussion about instruments
and Wurlitzerbahn mouthpieces versus Zinner and white masters versus black-
mater Vandoren German cut reeds--but the inportant point is that he felt he
(Moragues) was influenced by Karl Leister--he did not switch to the German
system clarinet--the last time I met him he still had his Buffet/Vandoren
set-up. He listened and...?
