For me I "feel" the sound--when a reed is right and I am in good physical and
mental shape--playing in the lowest register and elsewhere puts a feeling into
my hands and lower arms. Also when things are going well--my head feels like
it is resonating as well. All of this happens to all of us. But every so
often it just feels better-or more or right. This is not scientific--it is
the way I feel when the music I am trying to share comes out of the ebony
agony tube we all use. I don't mean to get a whole discussion going now.
But just finished three days of woodwind juries--after 29years of them-I
have now heard my first, very first contra-bassoon jury. I felt that too.
