I also feel that the dark/light sound for the clarinet is a good description.
I know that every person is going to have a different sound in their own
mind for bright or dark. I do feel that bright sound contain more upper
partials and to my ear sound more piercing. I also think that darker
sounds contain more lower partials and sound fuller and rounder to my ear.
And yes, it may not be based in scientific fact or have specific data
behind it that explains exactly what a dark sound is. Yes, I know that I
am not using scientific terms and I have entered the realm of wishy-washy
termanology, but does everything need to be based in scientific fact?????
Is it possible to like the sound for the sound and not analyze it to
death????
