A number of years ago the basson professor on our faculty and one of the
music technology specialists set up a listening test to determine the
listener's perception of dark-bright etc. I know the results of the tests-
all listening have been recorded and tabulated. I'll ask around and see
where and when published. As I recall the results were bizarre and astounding
with no agreement anywhere. This was all done with good equipment and not
done on a whim or spur of the moment.
