I do not know if the Leblanc instruments are thicker walled but I do know
that the Selmer (Paris) RECITAL soprano instruments (including the Eb Sop)
are. In fact the outside dimensions of my clarinets in this series is almost
a large as the basset horn I own--yet the bore is small even by current
French standards--namely 14.40 mm. The newest model has regular thickness
walls--but the small bore. It feels good for ME. So while Selmer set up a
soprano clarinet with extra thick body and somewhat massive barrel the Buffet
company came out with the ELITE soprano--go figure.
