What about the differences between the clarinets of his own day and those
of our day. Not wanting to trigger a wave of regurgitation into shoes, I
won't peg this question to the issue of tone color (although you can bet
your bottoms that Mozart would have been able to hear the difference).
But what about the implications for articulation of the mouthpieces of
his day, to say nothing of reed-up vs reed-down playing or the
differences in ornamentational nuance dictated by the simpler key systems?
