Tom Ascher asks about preference for Bb versus A clarinets.

I prefer playing Bb, mostly because intonation (especially
in the throat tones) is more difficult for me on the A.
It does seem easier for me to get a reasonable legato on
the A, but the Bb just "feels better."

This brings up a related question: which clarinet do people
practice? I always practice on Bb unless I'm working on a
particular piece that will be performed on the A. But I met
someone once who said that he always practiced on the A
because it made the Bb seem easy.
