I'm confused by the assertion that the quality of the sound is
primarily a function of the human body.
If that were the case, why would a
clarinet sound like a clarinet, rather than like a flute, oboe, saxophone, or
human voice for that matter?! The fact that a clarinet has a distinctive
sound, is for me evidence that the quality of sound is primarily from the
instrument itself, rather than the body of the person creating it, or the
reed...
