Diana is feeling guilty because she is not obsessed with reeds,
takes them out of the box and either plays them or throws them
away, doesn't take any trouble in terms of their storage, etc.

Diana, I am on your side!! I read all the messages about players
being consumed by reed problems and I too feel guilty. I just
play them or throw them out.

The extent of the paranoia with respect to reeds is (in my opinion,
remember) excessive and unwarranted. The search for the perfect
reed is somewhat like the search for the holy grail. Who has time for
such nonsense?

One item that has come out of this very interesting and lengthy
discussion that will have to be given a discussion of its own is the
subject of to what extent is the reed responsible for the sound
character and quality? I promise to bring up that issue in a
week or two. We currently have enough things on our hands on this
board without making a flame with that one.
