Over the past four or five years the clarinet department has completely
changed. There are three professors here with a wide variety of backgrounds
and approaches to the clarinet. Howard Klug, my teacher, is of course
president of ICA and knows more about the clarinet, playing the clarinet and
clarinet repertoire than anybody I have ever met. James Campbell is the
well known recitalist/soloist/chamber musician and is one of the truly
special musicians around today. Eli Eban played many years as 2nd/Eb clarinet
in the Israel Philharmonic and is also a well known chamber musician and
soloistI have had the pleasure of working with each of them. (Wow, I sound
like a
Indiana advertisement, perhaps I should receive some type of remuneration
from the Dean)
