I think it was written for the Geneva competition sometime in the 1940's.
(Sutermeister Capriccio). Wasn't there an ancestor of the clarinet magazine
written then? You might also check periodicals at the time for reviews
MLA NOTES or other such journals.

I just checked Gillespies book on unaccompanied solos, he suggests to
check Lyle Merrimans dissertation on "Solos for Unaccompanied Woodwind
Instruments" pp. 87-90. As I recall this dissertation might be published
in a different version in one of his books on repertoire for wind instruments.
I don't know if this information will help you for next week, but maybe it can.
The piece was written for the 1947 Geneva Competition.
