I have a horrible, terrible confession to make.
I don't pain over reeds.
I take them out of the box, play on them for a little while, and shave
a little here, sand a little there...
if it doesn't work, I move onto the next reed.
I also play onthe same reeds for weeks, even months. My tone in my high
register is a bit hideous, but my reeds respond and people don't generally
cringe when I play...
so, relax. Learn about balanced reeds, flat reeds, taking off a little on
the side that is a little harder, make the heart even...
and just play them!
Oh yeah, I have another confession...I just store my reeds in the case they
came in, and I stick those in my clarinet case...
Will this all come back to me someday?
I hope not!
