There is really no reason for you to switch reeds. If you
like the reeds that you are use=ing and they seem to work well for
you then keep using them. I only questioned the reeds that you were
using, because you said that you were using 3 1/2 or 4s and you didn
t specify a brand. Mitchel Lurie makes good clarinet reeds. They
tend to be fairly consistant. If however, you find yourself playind
playing on Mitchel Lurie 4 1/2 to 5s then you may want to switch
to Vandoren 3- 3 1/2 or Vandoren V-12 3s. The vandoren reeds are
harder. Sometimes that Vandoren reeds take more time to get to
play better. I find myself fiddling with them a lot. If someday
you do switch to Vandored reeds, I would go to the regualar ones first
just from a cost standpoint. V-12s I think are very expensive.
