Greetings!

The question of reeds matching the mouthpiece is indeed an important one, but
comes up more frequently with handmade reeds as opposed to commercial reeds. In
my opinion the important "matching" considerations are the curvature of the reed
tip--does it match the curvature of the mouthpiece?--and the width of the
reed--is it too wide, extending slightly beyond the mouthpiece rails? I have
seen some commercial reeds whose tips do not match the curvature of Vandoren
mouthpiece; the reeds have * LESS * of a curvature than the mouthpiece. I
believe this can have a negative impact. (The problem of reeds that are
slightly too wide is far less common.)

Take a close look at the reed tip vs the mouthpiece tip; if they appear to
match, then I would essentially put the matter out of mind. You might try
Vandoren reeds; the Vandoren reeds appear to *EXACTLY* match the curvature of
the tip of Vandoren mouthpieces.

Good luck!
