Stan,

I am a junior at Michigan State University and study with Elsa Verdehr, a
chamber player mostly known for her trio, the Verdehr Trio, with her husband
Walter and pianist Gary Kirkpatrick.

In listening to her and studying with her chamber music seems to me, at the
time, the way to go. I do quite a bit of it up here at MSU and really enjoy
the thrill of working with other musicians and talking, learning, and
compromising on the music which we perform. I also do a heavy load of solo
literature, mainly concertos, sonatas, and twentieth century unaccompanied
pieces and this also seems to me a viable option worth pursuing. Elsa has made
a career out of it and so I would like to do the same.

The other option is a teaching position at a university which would give me a
home base from which to work from. I would like some of the ideas that I have
to be carried on into the future after my time has passed and this is perhaps
the only way to insure such a thing. So, in summary... I would like to do a
little bit of everything. Solo, orchestral, chamber and teaching.

Hope that answers your question.
