Attention Nicole Morizio!
I am a junior bass clarinetist in the Ithaca College Wind Ensemble.
In regards to your problem sounding notes above fifth line F, I would say the fo
llowing: (1)Do not bite or tense up your throat and embouchure--it
is important to keep your throat OPEN (imagine that there is a tennis
ball in your throat. (2)Keep your corners in (3)Arch your tongue
and think "eee" (4)Make sure you have enough mouthpiece in (5)BLOW
lots of FOCUSED, stream-lined air (6)RELAX! (7)Pray?--in the
beginning perhaps. Anyway, I hope I could help. Write back with
any other questions.
P.S.--Make sure you have a good set-up (reed, mouthpiece, ligature).
You might also want to try a Charles Bay neck--it really helps with the
high notes!
