On a somewhat related note, the other night on a St. Louis Symphony
broadcast, I was startled to hear a euphonium solo piece! It
turned out to be an arrangement of Weber's Concertino for clarinet,
arranged and played by the principal trombonist of the orchestra
(sorry I don't remember his name). He played it well, although his
tone had that "trombone-player-on-euphonium" tinge to it. It
was the first time I can recall hearing a full-blown euph-with-
orchestra piece (as opposed to the occasional tenor-tuba part
within a piece). Sounded nice...
Did anyone else hear this? I wish I had...
